It's on everyone's lips worldwide and has become an indispensable part of many German households: The 10-step Korean Skincare routine promises impressive results. Even though 10 steps for skincare might sound like a relatively big effort at first, it's comparatively small when you look at the results. We'll tell you how this process works correctly and how to achieve the best results.

Korean Skincare Routine: What makes it special?

For several years now, innovative, decorative, and nourishing cosmetics from South Korea have been on everyone's lips. In the diverse Korean Skincare routine, products are individually tailored to different skin needs.

It's not primarily about who is the fairest in the land, but simply about the ideal care for the skin. After all, our largest organ, the mirror of our soul, faces countless challenges in our daily lives – the products for Korean Skincare are designed to specifically protect against these.

Europeans and skincare

Currently, there's a lot of discussion about healthy eating (Healthy Food), work-life balance, and sustainable living. Meals should ideally be vegan, and there's no getting around so-called superfoods. But when it comes to skincare, many Europeans are still loyal to old methods.

For example, the face is often scrubbed vigorously with a harsh cleanser in the evening and then quickly slathered with a cream. The consequences? People in Europe and other Western countries, across various age groups, struggle with redness, blemished and dry skin, and other problems. The Korean skincare routine therefore takes a different approach.

Do you want to conceal pimples correctly? Then read our post!

What can we learn from the Korean Skincare Routine?

Essentially, the Korean Skincare routine aligns perfectly with the principles of sustainability. This is because East Asian manufacturers' products place great importance on respectful treatment of our environment and the animals on this earth. That's why most of our cosmetics here in the LoveMyCosmetic.de online shop are cruelty-free and vegan.

Conversely, this also means that you can always benefit from the versatile products – even if you are initially overwhelmed by the 10 steps of the Korean Skincare routine. Because it's not just about caring for our environment, but also about the sustainable care of your skin. The combination of ingredients and correct application plays a decisive role for different skin needs.

The 10 Steps Korean Skincare Routine: Here's how it works

Are you convinced by the philosophy of South Koreans? Then it's time to delve en détail into the 10-step Korean Skincare routine. But before we examine each step precisely, we want to tell you a secret: Just because there are 10 steps doesn't mean that each one has to be performed daily. Rather, you should always adapt the routine to your own needs and listen to your skin.

Some products you should (and will) only use once or twice a week. Peeling and masks, for example, are typical candidates for this. But what exactly you should pay attention to during application, how often and when the steps are useful, and exactly how they work, we'll tell you now!

1. Cleansing Oil: Goodbye Makeup

In the Korean Skincare routine, Cleansing Oil or an oily balm is the first and one of the most important steps for perfect cleansing results. The oil-based product can completely remove the day's makeup and prepares the skin for the rest of the care. Although the main focus here is on ideal skin cleansing, these oils and balms also contain other important ingredients that immediately provide the skin with nourishing nutrients.

One of the most popular products for this cleansing step is the Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil. It consists of natural oils derived from black beans. They control sebum production and soothe the skin.

Black sesame oil with antioxidants and blackcurrant seed oil, rich in minerals and vitamins, nourish the skin during cleansing. The hypoallergenic formula is also suitable for sensitive skin – a true all-rounder. But in addition to this product, you'll find many other high-quality oils in our shop – for example:

By the way: If you haven't worn makeup on a particular day, this step can also be skipped, as the Korean Skincare routine usually involves a double cleanse anyway. However, this is not always necessary and also depends on your skin. More tips on facial cleansing can be found here!

2. Cleanser: Hello Radiance

In the Korean Skincare routine, the English term "Cleanser" appears repeatedly. Translated, this means cleanser, and as described above, the classic 10-step routine relies on a double skin cleanse. In this second process, either a cleansing foam or gel is used. Which of the two you ultimately use is purely dependent on your personal preferences.

Use what feels best for your skin

In our shop, we offer a wide range of cleansers with the most diverse properties that specifically cleanse, nourish, and protect your skin. This is due to a variety of ingredients that are geared towards different requirements.

For blemished skin, for example, we recommend a cleansing foam or gel with tea tree oil or activated charcoal. It is also important that the cleanser has a pH value of 5.0-6.0, as this is closest to the natural environment of the skin.

One of our favorites is the Cosrx Low Ph Good Morning Cleanser. Here, the pH value is ideally matched to your skin. In addition, the extremely effective cleansing gel contains tea tree oil, which is perfect for oily, impure combination skin. The natural BHA also used sustainably refines the skin texture and can help to minimize pores. The gel is particularly gentle on the skin. Other interesting products for you might also be the following:

3. Exfoliation: Say goodbye to dead skin cells

Did you know that our skin constantly renews itself? This also means that microscopic skin cells are constantly shed. For a particularly radiant complexion, these should be removed regularly. In the 10-step Korean Skincare routine, an exfoliant or peeling is therefore used about twice a week.

Fruit acid peels in the Korean Skincare routine

Characteristic of East Asian products is the use of fruit acid. We fundamentally distinguish between salicylic acid or BHA peels, which are especially suitable for impure, sensitive, and oily facial skin, and glycolic acid or AHA peels. These are ideal for dry, reddened, and mature skin.

No matter which type of peel you choose, all Korean Skincare routine peel products reliably remove dead skin cells and leave you with deeply clean skin. This allows subsequent skincare products, such as toners and serums, to penetrate the skin better and optimally unleash the effectiveness of their ingredients.

Important! If you use a fruit acid peel, you should also definitely remember your sun protection. Because after use, the skin is significantly more susceptible to UV radiation and you'll burn more quickly.

Versatile cleansing products from Korea

However, it's not only the ingredients of Korean peels that differ significantly from what we know in this country – the products themselves are also more versatile. For example, Korean Skincare manufacturers offer wash-off masks or body scrubs that are suitable both as a nourishing mask and for the peeling step.

And for beauty minimalists, the Koreans have also come up with something. For example, the so-called Clearing Pads, which have been soaked in BHA, among other things, impress with their quick and uncomplicated application. So if you are still looking for the perfect peel for your skin, you have come to the right place, because we have the right product for you – for example, the Cosrx One Step Green Hero Calming Pad.

4. Toner: The ideal preparation

With the fourth of the 10 steps of the Korean Skincare routine, toner comes into play. This represents the transition between cleansing and actual care, as it can have both purely nourishing and clarifying properties. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or collagen speak for particularly gentle, nourishing products.

For its particularly skin-soothing and clarifying properties, the Supple Preparation Facial Toner by Klairs is well-known. This can be directly trickled into the hands or onto a cotton pad and applied to the facial skin with massaging movements. However, favorites also include:

By the way: In the 10 Steps Korean Skincare routine, toners also have the task of regulating the skin's pH value and preparing the organ for subsequent treatments.

Are you wondering how exactly this works? Then imagine a conventional kitchen sponge. If it's completely dry, it will barely absorb any liquid. Instead, the liquid will tend to roll off. If it was moistened with a little liquid beforehand, it can be used to soak up larger amounts of water. So, the toner is, so to speak, this irrigation for our skin.

5. Essence: The heart of the Korean Skincare routine

The fifth step of the Korean Skincare routine is the essence. It is, so to speak, the heart of Korean skin care. In a certain way, it serves a dual purpose, as it is a hybrid of toner and serum. With its high-quality ingredients and the good preparation by the toner, the essence is designed to provide moisturizing skin repair and cell renewal.

The various nutrients can thus be optimally absorbed by the skin and penetrate deep into the skin cells, where they can perfectly unfold their effect. Essences - unlike toners - are more specifically tailored to different skin problems. Depending on your skin type, different products are suitable. We want to list some recommendations here:

Product Skin Type Goal Ingredients
Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid Impure skin, enlarged pores Strengthening the skin, combating large pores and blackheads, clear and even complexion White Willow Bark, Betaine Salicylates and natural BHA ingredients
I’m From Mugwort Essence especially sensitive & dry skin, but basically for all skin types Soothing the skin, alleviating redness and moisturizing Mugwort extract
Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence Demanding, sensitive & mature skin Brightening and firming the skin, moisturizing Aloe Vera, Ceramides, fermented ingredients, Galactomyce, Hyaluronic Acid
Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Impure & dry skin, enlarged pores & pigmentation Brightening and firming the skin, moisturizing Allantoin, snail secretion filtrate

6. Serums, Boosters & Ampoules: Your skin in focus

Serums, boosters, and ampoules, after the essence, are a further specialization for individual skin types. They specifically fulfill your skin's desires. In our online shop, you will find products for brightening dark pigmentation, reducing pores, minimizing wrinkles, or generally improving skin appearance. This way, you can care for and nurture your skin precisely according to its specific needs with the Korean Skincare routine.

We also want to highlight one serum in particular here, as it has achieved extraordinary success among users: the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop. This product is a perfect example of the effectiveness and versatility of Korean Skincare. It was designed with the most important natural ingredients and contains large amounts of concentrated, pure Vitamin C. Together with the innovative, non-irritating formula, it helps to revitalize your skin!

Gentle plant-based care: Discover our natural cosmetics!

But the best part? This is a true all-rounder, because the serum is suitable for all age groups and skin types, even if you have the most sensitive skin. Are you looking for a product that is really perfectly tailored to you? Then take a look at the following:

7. Masks: The soul of the Korean Skincare routine

A heart and a soul, as they always say - and if the Essence is the heart of the 10 Steps Korean Skincare routine, then masks are the soul. They serve as a kind of calm and meditative skincare ritual, in which the skin receives a maximum treatment with various active ingredients. Meanwhile, you can simply lean back and relax for 15 to 20 minutes.

First, however, you have to choose a product. There are the classic wash-off masks, which you apply directly to the skin like a thick cream, let it absorb, and then wash off. On the other hand - and increasingly in focus - there are sheet masks. Both nourish the skin and restore important moisture, leaving the skin plump and refreshed. Applying two to three times a week is sufficient.

Which type you choose generally depends on your preferences. However, sheet masks have the advantage that they are often easier to use and don't crumble. In addition, you can simply try them out and see which product is best for you. Our favorites definitely include the following:

By the way: Do you want to learn more about this step? Then read on in our article about making masks yourself!

8. Eye care: For a vibrant appearance

The skin around the eyes is one of the most sensitive areas of the entire face and therefore requires special care. This includes an extra dose of moisture and special protection against external influences. Unfortunately, this is often neglected in Western cosmetics.

The eye area strongly shapes our radiance. If the skin around it is sagging, wrinkled, and reddened, we quickly look tired and exhausted. A plump, smooth eye area, on the other hand, conveys an alert and healthy impression.

Therefore, you should never forget this step of the 10 Steps Korean Skincare routine. Various creams specifically address your needs and the requirements of your skin, allowing you to shine in a new light.

You should always make sure to apply the cream very gently by dabbing and generally not rubbing. This often leads to skin irritations and small wrinkles. With these clever South Korean products, you could see initial results after just a few applications:

9. Moisturizer: To quench your skin's thirst

Drinking is vitally important for us humans. But did you know that our skin also needs to quench its thirst? This is the eighth step of the Korean Skincare routine. In our online shop, you will find a wide selection of, for example, gels, emulsions, and face creams, all of which have one task: to perfectly nourish the skin. Which one is right for you largely depends on your skin type.

However, to optimally protect and specifically nourish your skin, it is important above all to try and test. Because every person has their own unique DNA. Therefore, it is almost impossible to predict which cream is best for each individual.

However, once you have found a product that suits you, you should not change it anymore. Only then can you provide your skin with consistent care. We have compiled an initial selection for you here, according to skin type:

If you suffer from particularly dry and stressed skin, a Sleeping Pack (night sleeping mask) can also be used once a week. This is designed to completely revitalize and hydrate the skin. Do you need more tips on moisturizing care? Then we'll be happy to help you with your selection via chat and provide you with advice and support.

Give your skin enough moisture!

10. Sun protection: A must even on rainy days

The tenth and final step of the Korean Skincare routine is the hardest for many to understand. In Korea, however, it has been common practice for years that even with just a few minutes outdoors, sunscreen is never omitted. Sun protection and avoiding sun exposure are, so to speak, the secret recipe of the Asian population. After all, the sun and its harmful, invisible UV rays are one of the main reasons for skin aging.

But what many don't know: Even on cloudy days, our skin is fundamentally exposed to UV radiation. In some areas of our world, even more intensely than in others.

To slow down skin aging, Koreans apply a light sunscreen daily. To avoid weighing down the skin, emulsion-like creams and fluids are used. If you also want to apply makeup afterwards, it is essential that there is no whitening effect. Many of our products also meet this requirement.

Apply sunscreen every day!

Are you still looking for the right sunscreen for daily use? Are you unsure which SPF is right for you? Or have you not yet found the right companion for your skin type? Then feel free to contact us so we can find the perfect sunscreen for you. However, we can already give some initial recommendations here:
